When Richard was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, his family were given a bundle of information but little practical guidance.
They had a diagnosis. They had the leaflets. They had each other. But without someone to guide them, his daughter felt increasingly alone.
Then came two house sales, a move to Kent and a stroke that left his wife, Jane, unable to walk.
The responsibility was overwhelming.
But one referral to ADSS changed everything.
Claire finally had a Dementia Coordinator, someone who understood and could guide her through difficult decisions.
For Richard and Jane, ADSS opened doors to activities, friendships and opportunities to connect with others who share their experience.
Their health challenges haven't disappeared. But Claire no longer has to find every answer herself.
Loneliness isn't always about being on your own. Sometimes it's the feeling that nobody understands what you're going through or knowing you need help but not knowing where to turn.
At ADSS, we're here to change that.
Across Kent and Medway, our specialist professionals provide guidance, practical support and opportunities for meaningful connection, helping people living with dementia and their families feel understood, supported and more confident about the future.
A dementia diagnosis can leave you with more questions than answers. Our Dementia Coordinators are here to listen, understand your circumstances and help you navigate the challenges ahead.
From understanding a diagnosis and planning for changing needs to accessing health and social care services, they provide specialist guidance, practical advice and reassurance. And as life changes, you can come back to us with new questions or concerns.
You don't have to have all the answers. And you don't have to face the questions alone. That's what we're here for.
FIND OUR DEMENTIA COORDINATORSLiving with dementia shouldn't mean losing the things that bring you happiness, purpose and a sense of belonging.
For some people, dementia can gradually make their world feel smaller. Friendships and familiar activities may become harder to maintain, leaving people feeling disconnected from the lives they once knew.
Our groups help rebuild those connections, creating welcoming spaces where people can enjoy life, share experiences and feel a sense of belonging.
Our wellbeing activities, groups and Memory Cafés bring people living with dementia and their families together to enjoy shared experiences, build friendships and connect with others who understand.
Whether it's trying something new, enjoying a favourite activity or simply spending time with people who understand what you're going through, these moments can make a real difference to confidence, wellbeing and quality of life.
Because living with dementia is about so much more than a diagnosis. It's about continuing to enjoy life, together.
