At ADSS we don't just support people with dementia, we also support the professionals who care for them.

This year marks an incredible milestone for ADSS as we celebrate 35 years of supporting people affected by dementia across Kent and Medway.
Since opening our doors in 1991, we've had the privilege of standing alongside thousands of local people through one of life's most challenging journeys. We've seen the heartbreak that dementia can bring, but we've also witnessed extraordinary resilience, joy, friendship and hope.
Over the past 35 years, our charity has grown from a small local organisation into Kent and Medway's largest independent dementia charity. Today, we support thousands of people every year through specialist dementia support, personalised care and wellbeing services, helping them live well with dementia and ensuring no one has to face it alone.
But our story has never been about numbers.
It's about the people.
It's about Simon and Ann, who arrived at one of our Memory Cafés shortly after Simon's diagnosis expecting only to collect some information. Instead, Simon stayed, found the confidence to join in, and together they discovered a community that continues to support them today. What began as one visit became renewed confidence, lasting friendships and hope for the future.
It's about partnerships like Paul and Jane. When Jane worried that accepting support meant she was failing as Paul's wife, we didn't begin with a care plan - we began by listening. Together, we built support around what mattered most to them, protecting their independence, respecting their routines and giving them the confidence to continue living life on their own terms.
It's about people like Steve. After his dementia diagnosis and a stay in hospital, Steve and his family felt overwhelmed by the information they had received and uncertain about what came next. By taking the time to explain dementia in a way that made sense, listening to Steve's concerns and coordinating practical support, we helped the family feel informed, reassured and confident that they had someone beside them for the journey ahead.
These stories are just a handful among thousands with everyone shaping who we are today and who we will be tomorrow.
As the need for dementia support continues to grow, so does our determination to be there for every person who needs us. Our ambition is not only to support more people, but to continue developing innovative services, reaching underserved communities and ensuring everyone affected by dementia has the opportunity to live with hope, purpose and dignity.
While we're proud to celebrate everything we've achieved together, we're even more focused about what comes next.
Because the story of ADSS isn't just about the last 35 years.
It's about ensuring that every person who receives a dementia diagnosis tomorrow has somewhere to turn, someone to stand beside them, and the opportunity to live with hope, purpose and dignity.
Together, we'll continue building a future where nobody has to face dementia alone, please help us on that journey by supporting our work.
